Just one of many ways the GNS community has FUN!

The wonderful success of the recent Carnival held on the grounds of Pemberton Woods was a result of the hard work of a few working on the organization, of more working as volunteers on the day, and of many who had lots of fun attending the “party.”

Events that ‘celebrate’ with occasions that bring together families and friends of the school, to have fun, and feel good about being at the school, sometimes with a fundraising component, have been held at Norfolk House, Glenlyon and GNS since the 1930s. There have been tea parties, wine and cheese evenings, refreshments at sports days, and gatherings at concerts and productions, as social events have been convened by Mothers/Ladies/Parents Auxiliaries, Old Girls/Old Boys Associations, Boards of Governors and School Administrations. They have included Hootenannys (forerunner of the Parent Night dinner-show), Christmas Bazaars, Craft Fairs, Kris Kringle Markets, French Cafes, Seaside Fairs, Family Fun Nights, Jumble Sales, Valentine Dances, Hallowe’en Parties, Alumni Homecomings, Reunions, Anniversary Celebrations, Welcome Back Barbecues and many, many more.

These events become lasting memories for many students, parents and staff and are an integral part of our school’s priorities, successes and history. As our school constantly searches for and provides activities to be key elements in forging the links that bind the school community together, having FUN is always a key aim and the intention of those who organize as well as those who attend. On this occasion, the Carnival has been one of those moments and in some small way will help to make the tough decisions to invest in the school’s goals and aspirations worthwhile. Well done to all!
